A New Beginning...

Hello and welcome to the new Girl-Jocks Locker Room Blog.

With my new-found internet savvy and web-friendly technical abilities - I'm going to be more proactive and productive with this forum and really get it going and keep it going.

Here's the latest scoop:

May 1-3, Girl-Jocks set up a booth at the Tri-Star Sports Collector's Show at the Cow Palace in San Francisco. My show partner AP (for Aunt Pam) and I had an absolute blast talking to everyone who stopped by the booth. As always, we met some really terrific new friends and caught up with some long-time friends as well.

My friend Ross Forman, free-lance writer and frequent marathon runner was present and conducted interviews with many of the show participants. He asked what sort of items sold over the weekend and for the first time, I told him it wasn't one particular item or athlete, but lots of different things. We sold women's basketball, golf, boxing, softball & racing items - a little bit of everything!
Sheryl Swoopes, Paula Creamer, Lorena Ochoa, Laila Ali, Jennie Finch & Danica Patrick and more. It was great!

A HUGE Shout Out to my Dad and Uncle David for helping us unload, set up and tear down. We truly couldn't have done it without you. My back was toast the second and third days and I could barely move. Thank Goodness for my Family.

Anyways, there's a lot of new products on the www.Girl-Jocks.com website and I'll be putting more up soon. You may also see a few photos here in a few days.

As always, your comments and feedback are welcome.

Best regards,

Robin

Life Goes On...

Here we are in 2006 - who would have thought?

Time sure flies when ...

... you're having fun
... you're dealing with significant loss and family issues
... you're busy trying to build a business, or two or three
... you're busy trying to get your home just the way you want it
... you're doing all of this and still have your day job

So, that's where I've been for the last few months - just busy with life.

Lost both of my beloved Grandmothers last year in April. My partner lost her Grandmother in September. It's been a rough year. Happily, my sister gave birth to a beautiful baby boy in February. Balance.

Well, business has been good. Haven't been spending nearly as much time as I should on Girl-Jocks, but I'll get to it. It's my baby, and there's no hurry or urgency. Goal is to build the website with the sports memorabilia & collectibles, then brand Girl-Jocks and turn it and the Logo into a line of sportswear specifically for women and girls. Eventually, the name of the memorabilia site will be "HeroesAndSheroes.com" and/or "SheroesAndHeroes.com" (I've got both domain names, just in case people can't remember which comes first :D)

Ultimate Sports Bags is doing extremely well. I have got to thank my customers for that. Seems like they're more like friends. Word of mouth is getting around, and my customers are very loyal. Believe me, I am very appreciative. Am asking for all customers to send me photos (snail or email) of their players or teams with their Ultimate Sports Bags - and I'll create the Ultimate Photo Gallery. Customers are also welcome to send me links to their team websites, and I'll post them on the Hot Links page. Of course, comments and testimonials are always welcome :)

The Tri-Star Productions Labor Day Weekend Sports Collector's Show was pretty darned good. I realized a dream for my brother Tim - as I got Joe Montana to sign his HOF 2000 Football. Been 6 years in the making for that one! Tim is serving his second tour of duty in Iraq - and we are all praying for his swift and safe return home.

Okay, that was all rather long winded - but hey, that's what Blogs are for.

Best regards and best wishes to all.

Musings...

Girl-Jocks will have a trade show display at the Tri-Star Sports Collector's Show at the Cow Palace in San Francisco Feb 18-20. This will be an AWESOME show! Steve Young, Jerry Rice and a whole list of football and baseball superstars will be onhand to sign autographs and meet the public. Come join us!

On another note - Girl-Jocks received another very nice write up in Chicago's Windy City Times. We've had some very nice emails from readers who will be passing Girl-Jocks along to friends and family - (pun intended!).

UltimateSportsBags.com is also doing very well - lots of sales to travelling sports teams and a couple of leagues. Looking forward to even greater participation once I get a handle on marketing!

Thanks you's to all my customers and friends who have written in.

Best regards,

Huge Success!!!

Labor Day Weekend at the S.F. Concourse Exhibition Center was a huge success for women's sports! Sales of Women's Sports Memorabilia & Collectibles were especially brisk - riding the coattails of the US Women's Olympic Teams' gold medal winning ways. Mia Hamm, Brandi Chastain, Jenny Finch, Team USA Softball items were especially hot sellers.

And talk about HOT - triple digits inside the Concourse Center nearly all 4 days of the show. Miserable conditions - excellent sales.

Girl-Jocks got a nice write up in the Sports Collector's Digest and is the subject of a feature article due out mid October, courtesy of freelance sportswriter Ross Forman. Look for it in Card Trade Magazine (Krause Publications) and the Windy City Times (in Chicago).
Thanks Ross!!!

Next on the calendar of events is a show at the Sunrise Mall in Sacramento November 6-7, then the Cow Palace in mid February. Trying hard to get WNBA Sacramento Monarchs & Team USA Superstar Yolanda Griffith and members of the 2004 IWFL Champions Sacramento Sirens Women's Pro Football team to make special autograph appearances on Sunday Nov 7th. Will keep you posted.

Hope to see you there!!!
